Salon Policies

Thank you for choosing WellFur Dog Grooming. These policies are here to help things run smoothly, safely, and respectfully — for your dog, for me, and for everyone else who visits. As a small, one-to-one home-based grooming service, I’ve carefully created these terms to support your dog’s wellbeing while protecting the time and energy it takes to run a responsible business.

Please take a few moments to read through the information below. By continuing to book an appointment with WellFur Dog Grooming, it is understood that you have read, accepted, and agreed to all of the terms and policies outlined below.

1. Late Arrivals

To keep everything running on time, I kindly ask that you arrive promptly for your appointment.

  • If you're more than 15 minutes late, I may not have time to safely complete the groom, and we’ll need to reschedule.

  • In this case, a 50% deposit will be required to rebook. I really appreciate your understanding — with limited appointment slots, time is precious.

2. Late Pick-Ups

As a crate-free, one-to-one groomer, I don’t have facilities to hold dogs for long periods after their groom is finished.

  • I allow a 15-minute grace period for pick-up.

  • After this, a £10 charge for every additional 15 minutes will be added to your total.

  • Dogs left late may need to be kept in a separate room away from others, which isn’t ideal for their comfort. For this reason, I can’t accept responsibility for any accidents, stress or issues that happen during this unsupervised time.

3. Cancellations & Rebooking

I completely understand that plans change. All I ask is:

  • Please give at least 72 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment.

  • Changes made with less than 72 hours’ notice will require a full deposit to rebook.

This policy helps protect my time and ensures I can continue offering a sustainable, fair service to everyone.

4. Fleas & Ticks

If your dog arrives with fleas or ticks, they’ll need immediate treatment using specialist products, followed by a full disinfecting of my salon.

  • For this reason, a £30 fee will be added to your groom.

  • If there’s a heavy infestation, I may need to pause or stop the groom for health and hygiene reasons.

Please let me know in advance if you suspect your dog may have parasites — it helps me plan and keep all dogs safe and comfortable.

5. Pregnant or In-Season Bitches

For health and welfare reasons, I do not groom pregnant dogs or bitches in season.
If your dog comes into season, please get in touch to reschedule with at least 72 hours’ notice.

7. Veterinary-Only Procedures

Following Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) guidance, I do not:

  • Express anal glands

  • Pluck ears

These are medical procedures and should only be carried out by your vet.

8. Health Conditions & Pre-Existing Injuries

Please let me know about any health conditions, sensitivities, or injuries your dog has before their appointment.

  • If you ask me to continue with grooming despite a known issue, I’ll do my best to be gentle and cautious — but I cannot be held responsible for any worsening or complications related to existing problems.

9. Concerns After Grooming

I take every precaution to keep your dog safe and comfortable. If you're worried that something might have happened during grooming:

  • Please contact me within 48 hours of the appointment.

  • If you believe there’s been an injury, a veterinary report will be required so we can understand what’s happened.

  • Without a report within this time, I’m unable to take responsibility, as many things can occur after your dog leaves the salon.

10. Behaviour & Early Termination

Your dog’s welfare is my number one priority. If your dog becomes highly stressed or aggressive, I may need to stop the groom early to protect them — and myself.

  • In such cases, a partial fee based on time spent will be charged.

  • Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, I will never force a dog to continue grooming if it is causing them distress.

11. Matting Policy

Severe matting can be very uncomfortable — and trying to brush it out can be painful and even dangerous.

  • In line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, matted dogs will be offered a full clip-down to remove knots quickly and safely.

  • You’ll always be contacted first to confirm whether you’d like to go ahead or cancel. Please note: cancellations due to matting are still chargeable.

  • I cannot accept responsibility for any skin irritation, bruising, or behavioural changes following a necessary shave-down.

12. Photos & Social Media

I sometimes take photos or videos of your lovely dogs for my social media or grooming records.

  • If you’d prefer I didn’t photograph your dog, just let me know before the appointment — no problem at all.

13. Payments

  • Payment is due in full at the end of the appointment unless a deposit has already been made.

  • I accept cash or bank transfer.

💛 Thank You for Supporting My Small Business

These policies are in place to help me offer the best care I can — and to run a safe, fair and sustainable grooming service. I really appreciate your kindness and understanding. If you have any questions at all, I’m always happy to chat.
